There is always someone posting about trying to get a LS1 T56 to work with a Gen I Engine where the LT1 would work great. See if you can find someone and trade them, that would work better.

Give Harry at McLeod ind industries a call. He helped me out with a similar install. Let us know what you find out.

It's a fairly straight forward swap. I did it when I went from my old 305 SBC to the current 5.3. One way to do it is just get all the stock parts from an LS* t56; bellhousing, slave cylinder, input shaft, front plate and obviously the clutch stuff. Tear down your t56 and swap the parts. You'll have to have the input shaft bearing pressed onto the new shaft but a new bearing is only $15 or so.

And it won't realistically cost that much to ship. I bought all the stuff from D&D Performance. They were almost double the cost of the old sixspeedsinc but you can't really complain about what you can't buy anymore.

It cost several hundred dollars to do the swap for me; If I hadn't just rebuilt my trans I would've been looking at whole replacement LS* t56s.

I was under the impression that all Tahoes were auto (4L60e until the new body styles).
