i prefer EFI, but if you cant tune it yourself its expensive to get a dyno tune. carb is cheaper but you still need the MSD 6LS box to fire it. is it strictly a racecar or do you plan to drive it(and if so how much?)? my car is pretty simple and works well for what it is, cost me around $8000 to build/tune the whole car from start to finish.

Thats and expensive option. My guess is you won't find any of that stuff used, and the new prices will add up to a couple of grand before you know it. Search through a few old threads.

Cheapest route would be to strip all of the accessories and fuel items off an existing motor. That means FI. Buying everything piece by piece adds up super fast.

If you go carbed you don't need a distributor. You can use the MSD 6LS box to fire the coil packs. Plus it has a harness already wired , you just hook it up to a couple connectors on the motor and that's it. There are three wires on the box to hook up and you are ready to rock, hook up your laptop and put in your own timing curve or use a timing pill. Or you can buy my 86 coupe for $3500 and call it a day.

From what I remember that is a Nice Stang.

Anyway... be and my buddy are starting on FOX 5.0 with a 5.3. We are going Carbed to save some cash. Using the MSD box from edelbrock and rpm manifold. I have some good shaved and ported 6.0 heads that we are putting on and a used cam shaft.

We are welding the truck mounts the the FOX Frame...after we line up our TH350 trans and converter (need LS1 crank spacer and longer Flexplate bolts for this swap). We are going to run the stock truck pan...(but it will be low)

Truck pans are way cheaper. We have C5 manifolds, truck manifolds and setup of block hugger LSX swap headers. We just will use whatever fits best.

getting a electric fan off a junk car... and going to try and run the truck accessories. We got the truck motor complete for $750.00 (pan to intake with injectors and harness and all accessories but A/C) even has a warranty..LOL

Carbs only need 5lbs of fuel pressure... even though we could get away with running FI... 1991 5.0 stangs are fuel injected. Just need to run a computer and harness. but we already have the Carb stuff... and dont want to spend money for tuning. PLUG AND PLAY !!!

Several Chevy stangs on this forum...search it.

I just got a adapter fitting from the M12 "I believe" thread to the 1/8 NPT that comes on the mechanical oil pressure gauge. Are you going mechanical or electrical?
