why would you want to use a 700R4? Just keep a 4l65 or 4l80 behind it.

hi, i used the flat flexplate and spacer with longer bolts from another lq4 but with a 4l80, you just have to elongate the holes to correctly bolt up the torque converter

Does the '99 LQ4 have the thicker rear crankshaft flange? If so the spacer is not required.

The 99 and 00 Lq4 Had a longer crank snout in the rear. I am not sure how you would be able to make it work with the 700r4 which is basically similar to a 4l60e. I believe you would have to have the rear snout turned down or use a later crank from an 01 up engine.

The 01 up rear crank snout is shorter and uses a spacer to get it to work with a 4L80E to use an 01 up LQ4 with a 4L60E you have to remove the spacer. You may also have to use an LS1 Fly wheel Or a 4.8/5.3L Fly wheel but I am not 100% sure on that....

FWIW the 99-00 wide rear crank snout is 1.250 wide. The Later 01-up Narrow flange is only .857 wide

You will have to elongate the holes as the bolt pattern on the older torque converter is slightly different.

You will also have to use the correct starter

Pretty sure all you need is a flate flexplate (which is prolly already on the engine you're getting) and just open up the bolt holes on the flexplate, as mentioned above...

I dont know about him, but I used a TV cable from a 3rd gen camaro with a V6 and 700r4. Then took the tab(used for cruise control)on the throttle body, cut it off and welded it 180 degrees out. Then mounted the cable in the same bracket as the throttle cable.

Also keep in mind when using a 700r4 behind a LS motor, you will have to recalibrate your governor so WOT upshifts dont happen at like 4500rpm.

i have a 5.3 and a 700r4 mated. i used the stock flywheel with a crank spacer, spacer on outside of flywheel so you can use your stock starter. the torque converter i purchased bolted right up without having to elongate any holes. (so u may get lucky). as far as the t v cable, i mounted a piece of metal on my throttle bracket to allow the tv to be pulled out as the throttle comes back. also had the motor tuned for "analog" style transmission, like it was a manual trans. its that easy..
