its a 4l70e and the truck intake is different. The car intake is much lower. Im looking to go with the car intake and accessories. The truck intake and accessories will fit. I just think that they are ugly.

Ok cool because i had a guy selling a trailblazer ss motor, but i think i'll wait until I come across a ls1 from a car. I talked to Larry @ s&p and he told me that the intake sits up higher and that even if i put a car intake on, he believes that the trailblazer ss pullies sits up higher also I'm not sure if it do or not. I'll just wait until I see what happens with yours, or until i find a vette motor

Yes, truck accessories are completely different than car accessories and sit MUCH higher. When swapping to the car intake the alternator actually sits higher than the throttle body (tallest point) when using the stock brackets. The throttle body also interferes with the truck water pump and idler pulley so the truck brackets need to go or be modified.

Word to the wise: unless you need the 65 -ish lb weight advantage of a car's aluminum block, stick with the 5.3 truck engines. Smart shopping, with mileage the same, the cost difference will buy the accessory brackets and then some (a lot of some). Similar power is only as far away as a cam and springs, along with the intake / rail / injectors you were going to replace anyway and the generic tune you need to remove security and such. My budget t bird swap was completed for less than the difference between the price of my 5.3 engine compared to the two years older, higher mileage 5.7 vette engine sitting on the crate next to it.

It's your wallet and maybe your pockets are deeper than mine but with a little paint, the a fore mentioned mods and some Corvette coil covers no one but you will know the difference.

Speaking of wallets, S&P sells nice stuff but make sure your wallet is full when you talk to them because they will extensively lighten it!

How is your project coming? Did you ever get 100% confirmation that the truck accessories and intake will fit? Does this include PS and A/C? I dont mind the look as the SS cover dresses it up. And cost is much less if I can keep all the truck items except the oil pan.

Thanks!

got the following:

8 E3 Spark Plugs
New Plug Wires
Steel Braided Trans Lines and AN fittings for trans and Intercooler
Lokar Shift Linkage
Lokar Fire Wall mount Trans Dip Stick
New Wheel Studs for the Rear
1/4" Wheel Spacers for the Rear
Front Disc Conversion Brackets (Had to go back to stock spindles, I guess i will have a new conversion kit for the drop)
2 69 Nova Front Disc Rotors
2 Pirelli Scorpion Tires 295/30R-22 ($$$$ could have bought at least 16 13" tires!!!!!!)
All tires now mounted and balanced
Removed rear axles to drill out holes for new studs (had to get a 33/64 drill bit, try finding one of those around at ur nearest Home Depot or Lowes. Had to get it at a specialty tool store $25, now completed)

Installed axles and rear disc conversion, mount rear rims, and new brake lines.

Studs installed on the axles and axles back in.

Slotted rotors on, gonna paint calipers tomorrow while they are off.

So as it turns out, i dont need the spacers anymore, so i will return them. And as u see the studs are longer, but since i dont need the spacers, i will just cut them down to size.

Well after a long weekend, I was able to get some work in on da ride (between cooking out, fixing other cars, installing a tranmission, taking family out, going to graduations, etc......).

Here are some of the pics of the transmission lines and brake lines installed.

So that was all the progress on Friday and Saturday. Then Sunday, we put a transmission in the Executive Sweet. Started around 6pm pulling it out, finished it and loaded it up by 1am.

Agreed, this is only temporary. Working on a limited budget and would rather be able to drive the car now and upgrade as i go. I want to swap to a car intake(chrome) and accessory drive by March Pulley, but that is another $3,000. I simply dont have it right now with trying to acquire the rest of the parts needed to finish my swap. The truck intake is ugly as hell, thats y i sanded it down to try to smooth it out some. Just have to use what i have.

Does anyone have any suggestions on fuel tanks for these year impalas? I have been told that external fuel pump is a bad way to go and to use a EFI Gas Tank. All the tanks i have seen for sale are $900 and up. Is there a Fuel Injected car that i could use the tank from? I just saw the 90s B-body tank, but it looks like that will only fit chevelles.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm going to be running a b body tank on my 63. Had to get rid of the lower tub though. It will fit between the frame rails.

What are the wheel size and specs with backspacing? I am trying to figure out what i can fit on my 64 without having to cut any sheet metal and while still sitting as low as possible when aired out.
