Default Fox manual trans options?

Just wondering if anyone has used either a T56 or Tremac 5 speed in there swap. Is there a way to use the cable operated clutch with the T56 and is there a bell to use the Tremac TKO with the LS motor?
Thanks.

Default Tko

Quick Time has a bell housing to specifically mate a "Ford" Tremec TKO/toploader to the LS motor. I think Mcleod also makes one. Someone here mentionned Lakewood makes a housing to mate a toploader to a chevy big block which is supposed to work on the LS also. All speculation.

Does the conversion bellhousing for the ford version of the T-56 put the engine in the same place? That would make things a lot easier for a fox body swap.

The bellhousing has nothing to do with engine placement, that has to do with transmission placement.

Thanks for all the replys. The TKO's can be bought cheap used and the cable operated clutch is real easy to use. This is good news.
Thanks

SOM68SS did this on his 4-eyed notch with carb'd LS1.

I like the idea of the T56 but would settle for a strong 5spd if it'd simplify the conversion process somewhat.

Last time I checked the engine was connected to the transmission

If the overall length of the transmission from the mount to the face of the bellhousing is than an LS, the engine will be in a different position.

usually you place the engine first, then worry about the trans mount/crossmember.

No kidding

A better question would be whether they designed the bellhousing to mimic the LS1 setup (people using the ford style transmission in a Chevy) or if it was intended for use in a Ford car. Either way it opens up another option since the ford style transmissions are much more available than the GM style ones.

I think the site linked in my post above stated that the TKO was in the Mustang stock location. The underside shots show the trans mounted at the stock location using a trans crossmember for the TKO. The bell was for a SBC modified to fit the LS. Mods were made for the pivot ball and clutch fork opening.

yes, the quicktime bells are setup for hydraulics..

if you want to use the standard pull cable, you have to drill for the pull cable ball stud.

Yeah, looking at the Quicktime, Lakewood, and McLeod sites, it looks like their bells are all set up for the GM. The pivot ***** need to be moved to the opposite side for the Ford's cable shift. Seems like these bellhousings could be made pre-tapped to allow relocation of the pivot ball.

SOM68SS modified his bellhousing to put the pivot ball on the passenger side for the pull-style clutch fork.
