LM7 is a 5.3l..LQ4 is a 6.0l

I bought a 5.3lm7 without starter but i have a good old style big one [starter].Will it fit the 5.3 if i cut off that square with hole in it that is protruding from the cast iron block .Thanks for the excellant write up.We think along the same, much more fun than just buying parts and slap it together.regards Abri

Great post! Can you tell me what manifolds you used in the picture of the single turbo set up. I'm shoehorning a LQ9 single turbo in a 300zx. I want to use the same layout, but I've been struggling to find the right manifolds to make it work. Do these flow well? Thanks!

Those are the C6 vette manifolds flipped upside down. I have used them a few times, they flow just fine for turbo stuff and I have had no issues except for the obvious one....they aren't the best looking setup out there by any means.

how many of those parts would I need if I was to swap a 5.3 into an lt1 body?

IE fuel system ect...

Also could I reuse my a/c compressor from my lt1 on the 5.3?

Default 1967 engine swap

I have the chance to purchase a 4.8, 4L60E combo complete from an 2004 truck with 45,000 miles for 1250.00 including computer. I am thinking of installing into a 1967 camaro, 327 4 speed car. What all am I going to have change in order to do this swap. I think I want to change the drive by wire to drive by cable.

What do think???????

5.3 are plentiful. Millions of them have been produced. So they are cheaper and easy to find at a junk yard.

6.0 is basically the same motor just with 4 inch pistons. Much larger piston give more power per cubic inch and the 6.0 motors can use the NEWER LS3 (6.2) and LS7 (7.0) Heads

All motors smaller than 6.0 can only use the small heads (ie. LS6, LS1 346 motors, 5.3 motors and 4.8 motors)

All these motor come in aluminum or cast iron blocks. Aluminum is about 140lbs lighter, but gives up strength. Iron Blocks are good for another 100 horsepower maxed out better for high boost or big NO2 shots. Aluminum block typically cost more.

Hope that helps.

pse help. i bought a lm7 castiron block. at the rear where one would find the engine no is the following no.cx1184968 or the last no could be a 6.what is strange is that this no. is made by a centre punch and not with the usual number punch. however on top and else where i found the following bar code , *10XJB 661 W990076029*.on the ecm serv no 09354896cwAf *486cwaf 919006837Q* HDW no.16220610 09374401 3558L25087.i tried for 4 months to solve this riddle.i would like to know what year 5.3l engine i have because i need to know how many teeth trigger wheel the ignition run on,what o2 sensors i need to get{ it came without} as well as the maf sensor{also without}.if i can i would like to cancel the back o2,maf and the vats. is there a bypass that can be build to do that.THANKS A LOT ABRI
