Default ECM mounting

I've got a truck LQ9 ECM in my 68 vette. On the trucks, they'e mounted under the hood, so I'm assuming they're somewhat waterproof. With the length of the wire harness, the only place I can find to put it is at the base of the firewall on the passenger side (the Vintage Air took up most of the dash space).
Anyone else got thir ECM mounted out in the elements? I could build a box to seal it to the firewall. Or would that result in too much heat? Do the computers heat up much?

In all the Rock Crawling jeeps we do they are mounted under the hood. Just make sure they are secure and GO.

I've got mine inside my fender. That's where they put them on some Corvette models too. Just mount them with the plug to the side or down so if they get any water it will drain out.
