Default LS1 engine install angle

At what angle should the engine be mounted into a frame. I am mocking it up in a 68 camaro and presently have a 3 degree slope off the crank pulley.

Is this correct? Thanks

that will work.. it doesnt matter if its 2 or 4, i installed mine with the flat of the oilpan level with car at rideheight... it will work as long at the pickup isnt starved for oil and the rear is at the same inclination so you dont get drivashaft vibration

The Crank should be in direct line with your Trans output shaft. I used the front of the Crank to messure my angle, with the car with near full weight and on the ground, I would have had a tough time crawing under and meassuring the trans output shaft (as always referenced in most build storys and DIY stuff). as duce said.. the Oil pan and the top Valley cover are also inline the crank line and trans output shaft.

I just put a ls2 into my 68 camaro and seems that I have more room behind the motor. I was wondering what angle also, that was answered.

My Maverick swap is -6° (tailshaft down). I'll let you know in a month or so how it pans out...
