im putting a LY6 in my 94 firebird. To me there's no reason to ditch the VVT... what you end up with in the end is a decent number of cam options and you never lose low-end power/torque from going with a bigger cam thanks to the VVT. You end up with a much more fun and driveable car...

My questions to the guys that have already done this are:

Is the PCM ditched altogether and is there a com[any that makes something like a LTx- LSx harness?

My car is a t-56 swapped car, are they easier to swap then the auto cars?
Thanks for reading.

You can take a stock harness and modify it yourself. It's actually kinda simple. Just time consuming. The PCM isn't ditched, its just replaced with the LS PCM, along with the harness. T56 Cars are normally easier, due to the fact that you don't have to deal with any tranny stuff besides Neutral Safety switch and reverse lockout IIRC.

Well, that's a little more reassuring. I read this https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversio...rsion-how.html and it sounded like latin. I can't see any of the pictures here at work so that might have helped a little. I need to look for a no $hit, complete, 6.0l w/ acc., harness, and ecm right?

Right. You need to decide whether you are going DBW or DBC. If going DBW, the engines are alot easier to find, due to sheer production numbers. If you do decide to go DBW, you'll need everything you mentioned, to include the TAC module, DBW throttle body, pedal, and the respective harnesses. I'm actually getting ready to convert mine BACK to DBW, just because of how simple it would be lol.

Cool man, I'll be in touch. I looked several places and the cheapest I found was a 5.3 LM7 (I believe) complete down to the pedal assembly w/ acc. for $700.00. I'd rather score a 6.0 so I can take advantage of the L92's. Beats the hell out of 2k for a big cube block to build a mean ltx with. There will be unseen expenses though I'm sure going this route!

Cool. Feel free. I decided to just go with the LQ4 (6.0) for the extra cubes...and oh boy do I love it. Breaks the tires loose on the 1-2 shift. Just gotta be careful with it in the rain lol.

Then it would be a blast with the 6-speed, h/c, and bolt ons!

Hell yea it would..I'm staying auto though. I'm looking at some L92 heads right now, and probably a cam. I think the L92 heads will give it more than a nice boost, until I get a cam in there. I'll buy a CTS-V for the 6 Speed fun
