300ZX--LS1 Conversion Pics!!

The good thing about the NA diff is that it is geared better for low end speed. I am almost positive that its a 4.09:1 ratio. And for that matter, many of the TT guys will swap their diffs for the NA one for that reason. I have actually heard that NISSAN (NISMO) uses our diffs in their race program. In other words, you will never run into probs with either diff.
Now, as far as headers,....you can make anything fit if you want... But itll be easier to use shorty headers... Otherwise youll run into probs with the steering rack and pinion.

Thats a cool swap! I've always loved the looks of the 300zx, that car was actually one of my inspirations to finish college. But, when I graduated they didn't make them any more lol.
how long did this project take you to complete?

Some truck stops have scales as well, the one over here charges 7$ for your weight, and you have to jump REALLY high to hit the button for the speaker since it's at the truck's window levels!!

ok i am planing to do the same thing only with a LT1 how did you do the motor mounts and was the any probs with the steering assmb what about rearend did you have to swap it
keep in mind that i am not going to have a ac or power steering or alt. ( this is just going to be a trailer queen (race car)
motor plans are 396 stroker all forged internals with stage 3 heads longtubes and TH350 with trans brake and the biggest solid roller cam known to human kind soild roller lifters and 1.7 roller rockers oh and of course GAS GAS GAS AND MORE GAS
tell me what you think i have the motor allready built so that is not an issue
oh and did you put a T/A on the rearend or no, and i am just using alcohol as fuel

Well, with the LT1 i am not sure of the motor mount differences, but i am sure that the concept would be pretty similar. I am selling a conversion manual with all of the measurements, schematics, pictures, really anything you would need to know in order to complete the conversion for $40. Let me know if you are interested!
Ohh...and I'm in Albuquerque....

I have seen one done in Houston by a not so great shop I care not to mention. Its acool idea, I wouldnt mind doing the swap in to a higher mile NA 300ZX. Those are some great looking cars.

You can buy a shell of a newer (1990-1996) 300ZX for about $2000....and find an LS1 motor/tranny/ECM/wiring/etc for, easily, $3500 or less. About $1000 in parts at the high high end...and youve got a very custom....unique....sports car...for $6500! Not tooo bad! And thats with a few mods... Heck with my conversion, i sold my motor/tranny for $3500 and bought a 2000 T/A LS1/tranny/fuel pump/wiring/etc for 3100!!! So i actualyl made a little money initially!

hey, yall know this has already been done by www.cxiracing.com it is suppose to have 700hp at the fly wheel!

Thats pretty awesome. In fact it looks very very similar to the way my conversion was done. I dont know about that hood though I guess its time to one up them! I'm thinking a Viper motor would be nice
#36
ya the hood looks like crap, but its to fit a supercharger. They had allready cut the fire wall and moved it back as far as they could and put it as low as they could. so when it stuck out they had no choice but to make the hood!
#37
I dont know....when i did my swap, i had a good deal of clearance. I had aprox 5 in of clearance...between the intake manifold and the hood. It looks like the aftercooler is the major thing that sticks out... I guess when they did theirs, they mounted the motor higher up in the engine bay.

What year and trim car do you have?
