Default LS? Zx2

What kinda of setup should i use to LSx series my Zx2 (Ford). I know this is sacrilege to put a badass Chevy engine into a Ford but hey i think it sounds like fun. I fairly sure i wanna do a RWD setup so i'm gonna need to make a driveshaft tunnel. I know you can make a cheap 5.3 go like hell cheap but would it be easier to get a whole LS2 vette chassis and lay the ZX2 doghouse on it or what?

In a nutshell the questions are:
1. Keep it FWD or make it RWD?
2. What liter motor?

If i got a whole package like this it might be the easiest way but its kind of expensive. For what it is its reasonable but its still costly

$10k

There was a guy over on www.theturboforums.com that was putting a 32v cobra drivetrain in one. It was in the builds section.

Rather use a LS2 like pictured above. although 32v Terminators are badass just the motor is 10k whereas the whole drivetrain/chassis (above) is there for 10k

You misunderstood. I meant you could look at his build to get an idea how you may or may not want to do your build.

Supposedly there was a kit from Kugal performance products that made a crate 5.0 and a T5 blot into the chassis without any floor modifications. They did however switch the knuckles to a front steer set up with the rack up front. That being said, an LSX style motor and a T5 should slide into the car with =out cutting the tunnel or front floor. The took the bacl off the stock cradle and put mounts onto the sides fro the motor. They also use an 8.8 from a mustang with front wheel drive offset rims in the back without cutting the tubes down. You will have to relocate the fuel tank to behind the axle though. Do a search in car craft or hot rod for a V8 focus and you will find it.

look here for parts lists http://www.kugelkomponents.com/focus/focus.php

ty to everyone. i appreciate any advice or help thats constructive =]

the "easiest" route would prolly be how the CiVette did it. Ive been thinking that would be how id do it and i checked his build and it gave me hope

I'm guessing you have some good fab skills?

If not, this will be EXPENSIVE. Even with skills, I'd expect 15-20k is not way out of line in costs.

Would be pretty neat if completed though. Have you every done any projects of this magnitude before?

Yes this swap will definitely be expensive either way. But if or when you finish you will have a one of a kind vehicle on your hands.

I have good fab skill and lots of friends with great fab skills (drag racers, Mini truckers, etc). im good with metal and good with electronics and i wanna tackle a big project but im still trying to get everything figured out b4 i start buying. first step is searching junk yards and trying to find a wrecked LS2 vette. I would settle for a wrecked LS2 GTO or even a LS1 vette if cheap enough and pretty much take everything from the donor and fab it on the Zx2.

I did my RWD swap in the grand prix for $3k including the price of the car. I got some key parts for free or already had them but it's by no means 20k. If you don't to a whole lot of "while I'm here" stuff it can be done on a decent budget.

I might be doing this project sooner than expected seeing as how i think my little 4 banger puked. have to pull some parts off and investigate. If its dead it may be time to head to the junk yard and find a wrecked 6.0 GTO lol
