Default MSD 6010 Question

I have my swap up and running fine. I am confused on how you set up the "RevLow" option for staging. I see on the option list how to set the RPM limit, but how do you set the time or duration that the option is effective for?
Is it like ...1 second, ....2 seconds or what. I'll try to call MSD tomorrow if I can get through. Just wondering if someone here had a handle on it. Thanks

The low Rev is your 2 step function. the only 'activation' that is has is by a 12V signal. It stays active as long as it is seen 12v through that wire. You cannot control the time or anything through the MSD box, just the limit. It works the same as the timing retard, this limit is only active for the time the wire sees 12v (i.e. nitrous arming switch).

Thanks for the info Shawn, So it stays active as long as it has 12 volts. So what if i put a toggle switch like on my shifter or something that I can cut the power off to the blue wire. That way I could launch at a lower RPM to help hook, then cut the power to it to deactivate it. Then hopefully boogie down the 1/4. What do ya think?

Thats what i was thinking of doing. I wouldnt put a toggle switch on though, i would put a momentary "on" red button or something so as long as you hold the button its active and you can release it by just removing your thumb from the button.

You are correct!!! That is an even better idea. I'll find one this week and hook it up. I hope to take my car to the track soon and I'll let you know how it works. Heck I could try it out in my driveway as far as that goes. I'll be in touch Thanks for your help

Run it through a relay off your brake switch, foot on brake = rev-lo (12V to blue wire), release brake = rev-hi (0V to blue wire).

I have mine hooked to the same button as the line lock. I have a switch that will break the connection so I can do a burnout without hitting the low limit.

Thanks for the comments, I like the idea of hooking it to my line lock. LS1MCSS what do I need for extra switches? I have a Hurst line lock now, do you have a toggle in there also to cut it out all together? What do I need for a switch coming of the line lock?

Thanks

Tap into the wire that gets 12 volts when you push the line lock button. Run the wire, you add, through a switch and then to the msd box. When you want to do a burnout, just have the switch in the off position. To operate the line lock and two step together, just flip the switch on and then the 12V will go to the msd box.
