Do a search for LH8 oil pan. Most seem to say that it hangs too low past the crossmember (+ or - 2 in)

I used a stock F-body pan with no modifications...just had to move the frame mounts back. It might be different with a Buick. You may want to check out this thread if you haven't already:

I am a stickler about trying to get people to not use low oil pans, this is why:

Happened three weeks ago over a speed bump, my trans pan is lower than my oil pan and im glad it is.

I like the 72 malibu-(alocker) set-up, using the edelbrock plates, prothane mounts, edelbrock headers, autokraft pan. Sounds like it was a smooth swap.

Did you have to raise engine some? I'm trying to use the stock F-Body pan also.

(using the Gen I BRP mounts which is the farthest back i've seen so far)

Nope, used energy suspension polyurethane mounts and stock frame mounts moved back far enough for the pan to clear and the engine not hit the firewall.

That's encouraging! I still hear of folks have trouble with the fitment of the F-Body pan. Not quite there in my build yet.

I'm hoping you don't have steering linkage interference also.

The f-body pan will fit, but very tight, about a 1/2" between the pan and the x-member.. and the passenger side head to the firewall will be about the same 1/2" if you center the engine.
