Default different engine mounts

I have been reading alot on here about different engine mounts, that some move the engine forward and, or up from the original gen I small block location. Can anybody tell me which mounts from what company are good to use and how much they move the engine?

I believe the flat plate engine mount "adapter" plates, are pretty much all the same. Some people simply flip them from side to side of the engine, which changes the bolt pattern a bit in placement, front to back. Its just up to you where you choose to place the engine, a little forward...or a little back. This sometimes makes it easier to place your transmission mount as well. Good luck.

One mount configuration that is often overlooked is the Corvette style mounts. They won't fit alot of applications but in my case (an old car with a boxed front crossmember) they work excellent. Those oil filled cushions really isolate the engine from the chassis and provide a very solid engine mount as well.

I was going to use Spohn LS1 frame mounts for my 82 Monte along with their poly bushings and stock clam shells. However, when I tried to sit my motor in place it would not line up on one side. They were off almost an half inch. I ended up getting Edelbrock's engine plate's (#6701), and Moroso's frame and engine mounts (62515 - 62630). I sill had to enlongate a few holes slightly but it when in perfectly afterwards.

Not all of the plate mounts are the same. I can't speak for all of them, but I know that the Edelbrock mounts place the engine in exactly the same location as a SBC/BBC.

I'm going through the same problem as we speak. I've seen 2 different types. One type shares the bottom hole of the original SBC with one of the LS, the other has the lower SBC hole about 1 inch forward and about 1/4 inch lower. I'm not sure why there is a difference. The kind I needed turned out to be the offset version. Trans Dapt sells several different type, I'm getting mine from Advance Adapters.
