Default Road race/drift Conquest swap FINALLY RUNNING

Been reading on here for years, just never posted. I know its been done once or twice, but not like this. Heres my project. enjoy

I've had the car for over 10 years now, its gone through many phases.. I just freshly painted it and left for college 4years ago, now really going crazy with it.....

had enough of the turbo4

full custom cage

first test fit

I'll try to upload some more pics tonight, I cut the firewall, got the engine about 8" lower and about 10"back further than it is in this pic.. Also custom fabing new front suspension/K member and rack. More to come....

Very nice project, have always been fond of the conquest/starions. How much do you expect it to weigh? If I remember correctly there a little on the plus side aren't they?

yeah they are a little heavy, but not too bad. It weighed 2900 very mildly gutted. I'm aiming for somewhere around 2500-2600.. Lexan glass for the rear, very lightweight fiberglass dash, door skins, no carpet..I removed weight everywhere I can. These cars were just way over built, and underpowered. Its going to be a race car, but it will see a lot of daily driving as well. Hopefully I can get some more done this weekend.

For right now, I'm going to keep it mostly stock. I would like to get it around 400-450...
The stock rearends have been very good till 500-600, its the axles that might give me some trouble if I go near 500. The way I look at it, the car came stock with 188hp and 235ft/lbs tq. And a stock vette motor is close to double that..So it sould be a good time... Overall I just want it to be reliable.

i'm not one to tell you what to do on your own car. again, i applaud the effort!

Although, I would try to keep at least the stock glass and the stock doors and stuff. Even at 2900lbs but twice the power/torque = good times!

i went through this before with a previous car and changing the glass and gutting the interior is pretty much only comfortable on the track. even the drive to the track with a fully gutted car was no bueno. anyway, just my $0.02. i love these cars so much i can't help but try to keep one from getting gutted

I'm keeping all the glass up front, and it'll still have power windows. Only going lexan in the rear. I'll try to get some pics up of where I'm going with the interior soon.
