Thank you for your responses! My engine looks like it sits just like yours but I don't have the fenders and hood on the car yet.

Based on your description, I think I made the same cut into the sheet metal that you did for the shifter.

th350 with proper stall will be easier on your irs and car will be quicker
a dead hard hook with the t56 and some dr will punish the rear and may even break something.

Awesome car dude. I'm working on an s13 coupe right now with a stock LS1(probably stick a cam in before install). I was thinking of making my own mounts. Did you use the Hinson mounts? How much does that thing weigh? trying to figure out what mine will weigh.

Can't believe i didn't see this sooner. As sad as it makes me, i'm glad you finally decided to swap over to an auto tranny; Finally get the most out of your motor.

What kind of satin black are you using? I went back with chalkboard on the miata... lame.

I used pxracing.com mounts and not 100 percent sure on weight. Hoping for 3000 lbs with me in it. Good luck with your swap

Several guys on the V8 RX7 forums have swapped over to auto once their setup had them shifting like crazy. They each benefited from the swap.

On the paint, watch out for all the enamel paints. They are impossible to blend together and wet sand if you are still shooting for a satin finish. Any time you start wet sanding it, get ready to make it glossy. That is why i'm just going back to the chalkboard; easy to blend layers, easy touchup, durable, etc.

Give the Miata a month and i hope to get out on the road. Maybe you won't have your car torn apart then.

Thanks for the tips on the paint. I think it might get sprayed in a paint booth. We shall see. Oh and I should only be down one weekend
