It was definitely a lesson learned, not to buy a performance vehicle without seeing it Definitely was cool looking in the pics, but a mess once it got here. Rear was shifter over with a 1" spacer on one side to compensate, trans lost 2nd gear a day after i got it, second fuel pump was never wired, stainless manifolds cracked on every weld, two fans on one 30amp fuse kept blowing, water pump leaking, injectors were maxed out, boost controller not working, motor was noisy, half the gauges not working on the cluster, one tire spinning, etc etc etc
After I fixed all the issues there were, truck ran a best of 11.22 @ 122 last november.
I spend about 6 months working out various bugs with in with the help of guys at StreetSmart over in Brooklyn, NY, and we're now sorting out issues on the current build like suspension, braking, etc
I started wanting more and met with Matt from Tunetime, thats how the truck got to the state its in. Matt had a block MACHINED by Simonek, then he put it together with a callies crank, eagle rods, diamond pistons, trickflow 225 heads, his custom cam, edelbrock manifold, meth, made new stainles manifolds and a 4" downpipe, and stuck a PT88 on it.
So its not that I get upset if someone mentions that it was a truck built by 417, its the fact that the truck was butchered by 417 and rebuilt by me with the help of my friends at StreetSmart and Matt at TuneTime, and it is what it is now because of it.
Just went to the track yesterday and got kicked out for not having a cage, ran 10.5 @ 139 with lots more left in it, gotta work on the rear, the stock 8.5 10bolt started singing, some more upgrades on the 4l80e, and im out of injector
stay tuned
