Default Making Custom Coolant Hoses/Lines

The answer to this may be very simple.

I need to do some custom coolant and heater hoses, for my LSX swap. What's the best way to going about doing this?

Hard pipes with silicone transitions/ends, or standard heater hoses?

your best bet would be to use the stainless steel hoses and cut and assemble them yourself. Summit and Jegs sell them.

Coolant hoses come in all shapes and sizes. Figure out what shape you need then walk the ailse at your local parts store until you find what you need.

There are a couple of links in this section with pictures and dimensions of coolant hoses and the size of their ends.

You can also splice two hoses together if need be.

Heater hoses are flexible that just standard hose should let you do whatever you want.

Can I just use brass fittings to make the 90* bends, etc, for the heater hoses?

I made my rad hoses from aluminum bends and silicone couplers, it wasn't real easy but mine was a complicated routing. some people have luck at the parts store looking for the right type of bends, there is also this

these might help if you have a couple bad bends, they might look a little out of place if you needed a bunch of them though
good luck

They make heater hoses with pre-bent 90 * bends. Just need to know the inside diameter and length. For Radiator hoses, take a piece of coat hanger and bend it into the shape you need. Then measure the length of it. Find a real auto parts store like a NAPA and take your coat hanger pieces and ask to look at their hose book. The hoses are arranged by diameter and over all length, then they have pictures of what the hoses look like. Go through the book and find ones that look close to what you need and ask the parts guy to get them for you. Keep looking till you find what you need. Remember you can cut longer ones shorter if you need to, that's what I had to do for my lower hose. Keep a record of the hoses that fit so you can replace one easily if you ever need to.

Don, Just what Pat says take heavy gauge wire (coat hanger) and bend it to the shape I need. On each end of the wire I put a piece of tape and put the measurement of what the hose opening should be.

Sounds good. Thanks for the advice guys. There's a napa close to me, so I'll drop by there to get the hoses.
