Default My Magnacharged 6.0 Cutlass at the dragstrip

Finally had the opportunity to get the Cutlass on the strip to do some shakedown runs. It was a terrible day for drag racing today, 95* 70% humidity, and a very hot track. But those conditions meant many people stayed home, So i had the chance to make a ton of passes.

The biggest issues of the night was ridiculously high intake temperatures and non existent traction. At the start of a run the IAT's where about 133* and 180* by the top end, so I know that was absolutely killing me. The massive amount of low end torque the motor makes made launching an interesting task. The only way to get it to hook was a John Force burnout and stalling it to 2k. anymore RPM the tires would blow off and massive tire shake would happen.

Weighed 3,750lbs w/driver

Right off the trailer it went 12.77 @ 109, 2.02 60ft, spinning bad.

bigger burnout and rolling into the throttle went 12.78 @ 109, 2.08 60ft, still spun a bit.

wimpy burnout and a 1500 rpm launch went 12.76 @ 108.5, 2.06 60ft, spun like the first pass.

All those passes I was logging air/fuel ratio and correcting on the next pass. From here on out I got the AFR nailed so I worked on the launch.

Big burnout, 1500rpm launch with an instant pedal 12.285 @ 110.6, 1.82 60ft, no spin.

Same setup as before except 1300rpm launch, 12.30 @ 110.6, 1.84 60ft

Advanced timing 2*, increased shift point from 5800rpm to 6100, made shift timing quicker, 12.21 @ 110.4, 1.82 60ft

Huge burnout, 2k launch 12.17 @ 110.4, 1.77 60ft

John Force burnout, 2k launch 12.14 @ 111, 1.76 60ft

Overall i'm pleased, I wish i could have ran it into the night when it cooled down. I know it has 11's in it the way it is, it was just to darn hot tonight. I saw a maximum of 96% injector duty cycle so I think I am limited on added addition boost until I get new injectors, but I figure with traction, 10# boost, and my hood for areo it should go 11.70's or so.

Sorry no videos this time, it was all about business tonight, but I heard form several accounts that it was the meanest sounding daily driver some people have ever heard

Great times especially for the first outing and crummy air

What did you do about your fuel pump situation?

I got a Walbro 255 in there right now but have a second that will be going in this winter.

I'm anxious to get it going in good air with a set of slicks, I was on 275/65 BFG Drag Radials

wow, since i just got FIOS, i was able to read your whole build
i ended up with the LQ4, but went with a carb, given my weak computer skills, lol-i orig had a turbo 400, but built a 4l80e, which is in it now
i used the vette front acces. drive, and a D1SC Procharger for a vette, with a Procharger Intercooler
my best time to date (with a turbo 400) was 10.68 @ 126, 9.6 lbs boost under the carb-took it on a 400 mile trip, milage was around 17, but had the carb setup rich-FI would def clean it up, but 60 MPH @ 1900 rpms is pretty cool
i used the stock trans x mem., just cut the mount off and slid the x mem under the tailhousing and welded it back on the other side-i wanted the hump in the x mem for exhaust clear
i built a stroker for it, but been to lazy to install it, lol
i would love to try FI, use a throttle body and have my intake drilled for inj.
prob just switch out my aeromotive reg for an FI unit, keep the same A1000
pump-yea, you got me thinking of FI, lol
did you ever chassis dyno it?

Nice times Ryan that thing has some 11s in it for sure. I would imagine you will pick up some mph as well if you get some better air.

11.05:1ish most of the pass and 17.5-19* varying a lot with IAT.

In a perfect world I would be at 11.30-40 and 22* in first and second then 20* for the long pull in third. But after running the 11.79 I didnt want to tune anymore, just run it!

Sounds like you have your tune dialed in. Is this on pump gas?
