Why doing a leak down test is important. - My results If your looking for a core and want to avoid problems like the one I've got for my LS1 swap, I would recommend contacting SpearTech as their driveline packages are tested.
Here's the data on my leak down test on my LS1 core I'd planned to use in my 91 RS

I'd just tear it apart and check it out. I've found stuck rings, or rusty valves, especially if it's been sitting, both of which will cause leak down. Probably only needs hone, rings, lap valves. The gaskets will probably cost more than the parts it needs. At least you'll know what you've got.
