Default GM A body ?????

Ok I am putting a ls1/t56 in a 69 elcamino. I pan on using brp mounts. The pan will either be a lh8 or a autokraft pan. Headers will be edelbrock or brp. I have heard of some having trouble with the headers hitting the autokraft oil filter adaptor and the tie rods. Trying to see what people are using. I have looked through the A body sticky. Also any one running a spi efi tank or a B body tank in a elcamino? thanks

Just my opinion, but save yourself some big $$$ and just run edelbrock plates, CTS-V Pan / Pickup. Fits great, pan sits flush with crossmember, and the mounts are $70, pan $ pickup are about $220. The edelbrock headers fit great, so do the hookers. The edelbrock "shorty" headers fit good also, but i would stick to long tubes for power. Ive done alot of 68-72 A bodies that way, works great. 64-67 cars are a different animal though.......

I have been running with a CTS-V pan for 3 years now. I use Early BRP style plates, Tall/Narrow mounts and Edelbrock headers.. alll came out great.. I could or should have raised my engine a bit more.. as the pan is about 1" below that x-member.

I have not fitted anything yet, however, I have a LS2/6 speed hybrid from a 06 CTSV and I will make my own mounts. The plan for headers is to use the $22 GM 3/8 thick header flanges and take a set of $175 Hooker 7455 BBC Chevelle comp headers and merge them as one with the TIG. I can get them coated for nearly nothing and I can tailor the fit a little better. The BBC headers are off by 1/4 inch or less and are roughly $600 cheaper than the LS1 headers. I just cannot pay that much wow. Hopefully I get my maggie and M21 sold to ad some more fuel to the fire.

Default Edelbrock

Do yourself a favor and just spend the money on the Edelbrock conversion set up (headers and plates) with an autokraft pan. After making my own plates out of plate steel and messing with the idea of fabbing a set of headers the Edelbrock set up is was nice.

The engine plates put the motor in the best possible location and as close to the origional small block location as possible. Everything dropped right into my '72 and looks very nice. The autokraft pan is a bit on the expensive side but the quality and customer service is worth the price.

lq4/4l80e going in my 71 chevelle.. I used the newer BRP mnts, lh8 pan, edelbrock headers all fits just fine. Pan does stick alittle lower than the xmember. I welded on a small skid plate b4 powdercoating the frame. doing the new quarterpanels now....yea haa!

Im sure the autocraft pan is nice....but if the CTSV pan fits perfect and costs way less $$$$.....then ? I know the 68-72 cars with edelbrock plates, and standard motor mounts clear the ctsv pan great. To each his own i guess

2006ish vintage CTSV, but those pans don't fit super great. They hang a little low and the engine has to be pushed back or the crossmember slightly notched.

Don't get dad new socks or a grill brush this year.
