I am going to get the coil over kit, flamming river, and other suspension stuff but right now my focus is just getting it going down the road. Its going to be mostly drag but still streetable. Could you post some pics of your set-up? I would like to see how you got everything
I don't have a lot of good shots of the car right now. I did my swap on a budget, but everything works, just not as flashy. I'll try to get some pics soon

I have the vic jr with the edelbrock tb and it clears under the stock hood, but air cleaner selection is important

Update questions. I just removed the 4 banger and started removing the some of the wiring harness. I really dont understand what to remove and what to keep. I want to keep the body harness for my headlights and stuff but everytime I go to remove somef the engine harness they run into the body harness. I will be running a carb setup so all I will need is to wire the starter and altenator. What wires will I need to run the starter and alt.?

thanks

You need to leave all the wires under the dash and in the engine bay but you can take the computer out thats under the passenger seat.....Just hide all the wires thats in the engine bay in the fenders like i did.

ok, I cant take the harness out that goes to the ecm? Theres a harness that goes from the driver side firewall to the starter sileniod. I left that in and took out all the harness that went to the ecm. So I need to put the harness back in that goes to the ecm? I.m alittle confused all I am going to run is a carb setup so I all I need is the alt. and starter.

thanks

Default swap

removed the ecm, all the wires that go to the ecm which includes all of the air bag sensors if newer than 90. leave the wires that run along the driver side through the fire wall.
(lights, power and ground distribution) i removed and tossed the starter relay.
i've ran all my wires under my driver side fender including ecm.
i stripped my factory harness of all the unneeded crap like, maf and O2 sensors and random stuff like that.

i'm using sn95 control arms so i can run wide tires up front... looks goofy, and i running springs with perches from aje. flaming river rack, and u-joint, modified steering shaft.
i'm running fuel injection with a truck intake, i'm using stock manifolds, c5 passenger side, truck manifold turned around driver side, turbo up front.

did you have to use LS1 fbody waterpump and oil pan? Just trying to get all my stuff lined out so I will only have to do it once. What springs are you running? Also wondering I am going to use the stock spring right now so should I go with the 5.0 spring or leave the 4cylinder springs? I just put the aje kmember in so in a few days I will the assembling the rest.

its easier with an ls1 water pump, you'll need an ls1 pan and windage tray and oil pick up, i'm running mustang performance drop springs (dont know how much of a drop). the truck oil pan will work but the pan is 1" off the ground. springs are up to you, either will work. are you running a4 or m6? i used stock AOD crossmember slightly modified to fit my m6

Man I hear ya. Money is tight for me right now too. I just want to get it rolling and I will spend the money on the suspension later. I am going with old school tranny. Im going to run a powerglide. Its going to be mostly a drag car but its still going to be streetable. So it dont matter on springs, I can run the 4cylinder or 5.0 springs? Also was yours 4 cylinder car?

thanks
Josh

Correct me if I am wrong, but it appears that the truck intake on a 5.3 or 6.0 will clear with ease???

ya, it hits the hood big time.... i've got a junk hood that someone cut a scoop into so i'm not worried about trimming it and have engine parts sticking out of my hood. but yes to shut a stock hood you will need an ls1 or fast intake

Got some more questions, I've got the Kmember on and getting into the front suspension. Im trying to find out the best way to go. Should I get the coil over conversion or go some other route? If I do the coil over what is the cheapest and best way to do it? I have no idea what all I need to do it. I see they got the coil over kits but what do I do about the struts? Also what about the caster cambers, do I need them too?

Thanks
Josh

Damn I was really hoping that it would clear, but you don't win them all huh? Anything other than mounts and steering/header clearance, is there anything to really take into consideration? Looks like an easy slide from my perspective. If I can do a small block in an S-10 this can't be too hard.

it's all relative as to how much money you have to spend, i mean if i had lots of money i would do a SLA front suspension conversion, or a good coil over setup, but the cheapest is to just use aje spring perches and use stock or after market springs. your caster camber kit would be needed if you lowered it with shorter springs.

Thanks, yeah money is an issue but I hope to get all the good suspension stuff after I have it up and running. I already go the aje spring perches so I guess I am going to by the drag launch springs and some good struts.
