Default 2007 6.0 questions

Is this a gen 3 or 4?
Puttin this in a 79 malibu! Having the wiring done by wait4me.
My question is, the heads are cast 832 ? Are these heads decent have searched the forum and found no results on them.
Next question which cam will be good for forced inddustion later and decent NA right now?

It depends if its all aluminum then its the L76 truck motor. If its a iron block its the LY6.

I believe, 95% sure, that all careover truck 2007 GMT-800, old body style, trucks still used the LQ9/LQ4 and are a Gen III motor and would be iron blocked and have 317 heads.


I think the 832 is a casting number used for the L92 based heads used on the L76/LY6 and are the square port design and flow great stock. there are numinous casing numbers used for these style heads.

If its a Gen IV it will have VVT and front mount cam sensor. You could remove the VVT and delete it in the tune and run whatever cam you want. If its a L76 it might have AFM as well. You might want to remove the AFM lifters if it is and delete the AMF oil manifold under the intake valley.

u will find no info on 832 heads
the casting u mean is 823 which is a rectangle port L92/LS3/L76 head.
if the engine u have is a iron 6.0 with these 823 heads, then it is LY6. gen IV

The block is iron. So these heads are the one to stay with! Great!! Thanks for the info. Found an f body pan cam and springs today. The cam is 581 in 581 ex 230 230 on a 112 lsa What do you'll think?

The LY6 has VVT so you will need to remove it or just stick with the stock 6.0l one.

But you might look at one of the VVT cams from Mast or Comp. They make 460HP with that cam and their tune on an LY6!

Looked at mast motorsports page and like what I see! What else do you guys recomend for this budget build? Plan on keeping the revs below 6500.
I read about the rod bolts on one section but that was for an lq9 doesnt this motor have different rods and or bolts? Is it cheaper or better to no use the vvt?
I hate not being very knowledgable on these motors, thanks for all of the input.
If anyone needs any blown through carb help let me know...been there done that!! Crude way to make big power.

I called and talked to mast they were very helpful will be doing business there soon.

Yes the heads are L 92's!!! (for once i got more than I was looking for)

The last and best blown through I did was a 454 with a procharger (d1x) intercooled with a Nickerson carb. 16 pounds of boost to the manifold. The carb was the trick but it was still hard to tune for weather and temp changes. The car weight was 4200 with me in it still 10.70 at 135 mph. No converter to speak of and foot brakin it. Fliin on the big end. Any questions feel free to ask. All I can say is fuel fuel fuel.

im currently 10.8 n/a with a carbed sbc in my 3rd gen. but im building to reach lo 9's or better. with blow thru lsx. going with big single. and lq4 6.0 motor.
more details on nickerson carb, i will be modifying my holley pro series 750 hp
the sbc went 10's with 750 demon bp, but usual 11.0 was norm.

Default Nickerson carb

the carb that I got from procharger was just a holley with the choke horn miled off and solid floats from what I could tell. The nickerson carb on the other hand was very modified The thottle shafts were sealed and the rear fuel circut was ported and or honed out to some huge size in comparison.

I can tell you this with the procharger carb I ended up taking the jets out and just using some jet extensoins for jets and it was still lean with 23 psi of fuel at 14 psi of boost.

Ordered the nickerson carb (1000 bucks) gave then the specs on my setup, put the carb on ran the car and never looked back never even had to rejet it was always good on the o2 sensors. Just kept adding fuel timing and a few more pounds of boost. It was awsome! When I finally pulled the motor to put it in a boat! The torque converter bolts were almost pulled throught the sfi approved flywheel!!! and they were still tight!!
