Default 5.3 Vortec in 1970 Chevelle?????

I am puting a late 06 5.3 vortec in a 70 chevelle. Problem is, it's a truck motor and the intake and accessories are way to high (hits the hood). I need to know what intake & pulley set up I can use on this engine to get hood clearance. Please be specific in year and what car the parts would be out of if you can. Thanks in advance for the help.

98-02 fbody or 97-04 c5
easiest to work with, will need corresponding wp, alt,ps brackets and crank pulley.

It would be way cheaper to use lower engine mounts than to change the intake and acc.
Why is it hitting ,there should be enough room for sure.I dropped a truck motor in my 69 camaro without hitting and there are alot of people running truck motors in their chevelles/novas etc.

if you have to change.. use a 4th gen F-body setup on both the intake (LS1 or LS6) and front accessories. Corvette (C5/6) will also work.

But as JayRod stated, you can use the right combination to get the engine to sit lower.. but then the Oil pan is key on trying to get the engine to sit lower. Cross link can come into contact with the oil pan if the engine is too low and forward.

I think the lowest way to get the engine to sit low is to use a f-body oil pan that is notched, low engine mounts and frame stand. 1" back may help also cut the pan to cross link problem out.

ive heard of some people keeping truck accersoies and using a ls1 intake.. by the way a truck intake makes more power than a ls1 intake.. if u had the money i would go with a eldabrock efi intake they look nice..

True about the intake.. for low to mid range RPM.. the LS1 does catch up on the upper end a bit.. but low/mid range Torque is awsome !... just go LS6 intake, mod the water pump outlet and you can get them to work together ok.
