Default Fuel question

I'm planning my fuel set up right now and found out some 69 camaros had a return line in the tank sending unit. The return in 1/4 inch, would that be sufficient for a return line? I'm running an LS2 with a walbro 255 inline pump and regulator.

Most of the GM Return lines for a V8 are 5/16".. I don't think anyone has measured the pressure on the return line, but I don't think there is much..

Where are you running your regulator ?.. front near the engine or single fuel line with the regulator near the tank ?

You can alway replace the sender unit with one larger feed and return tube sizes. I originally did that for my Chevelle before I put in the Impala tank. I know that RobbMc Preformance markets sending units with 1/2" for both feel and return. That is another option.

I think most will say NO and that you need the 5/16" or bigger, but like must builds, Overkill is the norm.... to be realistic, you might be able to get away and be find with just the 1/4"... but I recommend you try and monitor it and see if you need to go to a larger return line.

but lets see what all of the other will say.

I personally wouldn't use anything smaller than 5/16. I'm no engineer, but GM has never used anything that small in any fuel injected engine that I'm aware of, even on 4 cylinders. Just my $0.02 though.

I'd agree with LS171Nova on what I would do... but I'd be interested in someone putting a pressure gauge on the return line and settle this question with facts...

If your just got a Daily Drive and don't put the hammer to the floor much.. It maybe enough.. As I said.. I'd like some real facts...

I installed a brass 5/16 fitting into my filler neck on the tank and connected my -6 return line to it.....very easy to do and works perfect.

Moroso even makes a kit (3/8" fitting though) to do the same thing.

Ls2 Doesn't use a return line from the fuel rail. It either returns in the fule tank or from the fuel filter assembly.

5/16" or 8mm return is factory size on 05 vette from filter/regulator back to the tank.

Another option is the 2005 LS2 vette fuel filter. The fuel regulator is internal and will work well up to 500 hp.

It's around 50 bucks for the filter from GM.

Yeah I'm goin to be smart and not risk the 1/4, i have an 02 covette external filter/regulator so thats where the return is comming from. I was thinking about taping into the top of the stock sending sending unit and routing the return into that. What everyone's thoughts on that?

That will work, just solder a fitting in it so it dosen't leak and you'll be fine.
