Do you have any completed pics? Awesome build! It takes ALOT of effort to try and get every last pound out of a car.

I dont have a final race weight as I didnt finish the car till Friday morning at 4:30am in the morning...went home and got 2 hours sleep, loaded the car up and took to the alignment shop at 7:30am. Brought back to the shop and unloaded it and gave it a quick check over, drove it around the parking lot.

Loaded it up and took it straight to the track. I had never had the car above 10-15 mph, didnt know if the tranny would shift, it would drive straight or if the brakes were good....first pass rolling in it off idle and shifting at 5500rpm soft went 11.02 @ 124

Ran 10's the rest of the weekend @ pinks all out with no problems. Scale at the track said 2720 with me in it. That was with me (about 220-225), helmet, helmet bag with big fire extinguisher in it, laptop setup in backpack for logging and full tank of gas every pass.

So im guessing the car to be about 2480 finished as it sits which is more than I originally guessed.

First pass video (havent gotten others from people that were recording it yet):

What was your best mph. I expected it to mph quite a bit higher than that with the weight. You have me looking at fox bodys. How is the tune up you have in it?

DA was 4100 feet on my fastest run (102 degrees out and humid) (125mph):

Time corrects to a 10.38 @ 131.31

Car is losing alot on the stock MAF, crappy air intake, no tuning (just a guess base tune running 26 degrees and 1.270 in the PE table across the board, horrible DA weather, only 3.73 gear /w 28" tire, tight n20 converter, only 4 passes on the car, victor jr style intake setup for the F2 procharger thats going on with the 440" LSx motor instead of ported 92/92 setup (list goes on and on)

I couldnt be happier

Your times dont seem to correlate with your weight.

My car has a 3000lb race weight with just a ported tb and 1 3/4 long tubes with full exhaust and I'm pulling the times in my sig.. just figuring the car out. The car is manually shifted and has 11.40s in it in the heat..

I dont know man. I've never heard of a 2200lb mustang and if you h/c combo is working well then at that weight you should be moving much quicker.

He did say he has no tuning yet. Also the stock MAF could be restricting the air flow.
I'm sure with a bit of work that thing will be under 10secs.

Track scales were nowhere light as I expected. Race weight was 2720 when I went across the scales after my first pass....thats about 2480 plus me /w helmet/jacket/laptop etc in the car.

That sounds more realistic and makes more sense

If I could get my 71 nova to 2700 race weight I would be thrilled. as it sits, its around 3200 so it would take quite a bit of doing to get there. I think I can get to 2900 easy. the last 200 lbs would be the hardest.

now, a 63-65 chevy II, they came from the factory around 2500lbs :jealous:

I totally lied. I was looking at the weights today on my cell phone and didnot realize the low weight ones were with a 4 cyl engine
http://www.novaresource.org/weights.htm

I did, however, weigh my 71 with an all iron bbc, steel wheels, all iron body, but manual everything, and no air etc, and it came in at 3260lbs without me. thats before I removed the inner fenders(24), nitrous stuff(35), heater core and related, hood latch and related, dual exhaust etc. In total Ive removed around 230lbs of stuff since I last weighed it, and Im expecting the 5.3 to be at least 200lbs lighter than the all iron big block, so Im looking at around 450 weight savings since I last weighed it.

I think with aluminum wheels, skinnies up front, pin on glass hood, trunk lid and bumpers, it should be in the 2600lb range without the driver.

Going out again this coming fri/saturday for the West Coast Hot Rod Assocation (WCHRA) race...

I hope to be posting a fastest stock shortblock LS1 record (9.50 pass /w spray) and
10.40-10.50 on stock 5.3l heads this time out.....

Ive got my plan laid out to go 9.81 on the motor within a month or two and hopefully break Texas Speed's fastest stock shortblock N/A record (9.82)...
