Im wondering the same thing. I got the LQ4 and going carb also. Going to mill my heads a little for a little more compression.

I'm wondering the same thing for my LQ9. How would the 02 LS6 cam perform? It would seem to be the cheapest bang for buck.

Not worth the swap imo. Get a custom ground cam for your specs or go with something tried and true, such as a tr224 on 112lsa. Milling the heads is a good idea or go to the 5.3 heads like I did mill them 0.15 and you've got right at 10.6:1 compression on a LQ4 block

LS6 springs aren't really a good idea with a 224 @ .050 cam. they'll do it, but you can easily max them out and float the valves

LS2 motors already have LS6 springs. Anyone know if that is true for the LQ4 motors?

Nope.....no truck motors have the ls6 springs, just the ls6, ls2, ls3. Even the l92 400 horsepower escalade motors come with the crappy springs. The stock truck springs aren't able to handle any camshaft, they're pretty soft. you can almost compress them with your hand when installed
