Default LSx into Foxbody in Cali (smog)

Hey all. Something I have been looking into doing is getting my hands on a 5.0 and doing a LSx swap. Anyone have experience getting something like this reffed/smogged? Specifically looking to do it with a 5.3...

I'm pretty sure I would be required to keep it fuel injected (would prefer carb).

If anyone has any experience with this, feel free to share. Would like to know if I'm just wasting my time, haha.

*Edit*

A 5.3 is out of the question. Must be from a car. :bleh:

Nevermind. The entire *budget* theme of this project pretty much flew out the window before it started.

Suggest you try a search.. many threads on Calif and other state smog question have all ready been ask..

Bottom line is that you would need to swap a Car motor into a Car (not a truck motor into a car or a car motor in to truck).

You need to certify your car for the new motor (must be newer, never older that the car year). So, all of the smog equipement from the donner car/truck must be used and working. EVAP, Purge, EGR, AIR, etc...

You basically turn your car in to the car that was the donner. so if you pull a LS3 out of a 2009 Vette, your car is certified and smogged for 2009 Vette standards and requirements.

PITA, but it can and has been done.

Many will tell you to pay off the smog tech or they have a friend, etc... etc. you can to that. But that still doesn't make it technically legal. so.. the old saying. ."Its not the though, its only if you get caught...!"

I thought the late-model Impalas ran a 5.3l thru the front wheels?

LS4 FWD I believe the block was shortened 1" too fit. I used to have a 07 Monte SS. I was surprised a 5.3 pulled so good. LOL. I mis that car.
