Smile New here, hi

Hee everyone,
I have just registered, some might know me from the second generation camaro forum.
I have been reading the forum and this thread for a couple of months now, thanks for all your knowlege.
I am gadering all info the adapt a LS1 in my car some day.
I have many questions left, so I will let you know.

For a starter, I need a custom sized fuel tank, but for me as a international camaro owner it is way to expensive to have rock valley make one.
I try to have a good welding shop doing it overhere.
My first question, how does a baffeled tank look like inside? pictures?measurements?
and how does the internal fuelpump work, considering mounting, picking up and depth and all.
This is just a start.
I hope hearing from you soon

Nobody yet? not many people arround here these days...
I was thinking, do I need baffles in the tank or is it a better idea to just put in a replacement foam from summit for fuel cells...
Again, I don't know how baffles, look like
thanks

Welcome to the forum Peter. It is a little slow around here at times. I am in the same boat as you in needing a custom tank at an affordable price. I'm doing a LS1 conversion into a '55 chevy. I haven't purchased a tank yet, but I found a web-site http://rickshotrodshop.com/main.htm with some pictures. Their tanks look great and I got a quote of just over $700 plus shipping for the stainless tank, pump, and straps. The tank look great but I will have to wait until after Christmas for this purchase. I also picked up a 2000 plastic Camaro tank that I thought about using but I decided not to modify my trunk pan. I would lose about 1/2 of the height of my trunk.
I don't see a sponsor with custom tanks for my application but I apolgize if there is one.
I hope this helps.

Peter,
The pictures of the baffle in the tank are located at the web site I gave you under products/tanks/tank construction. Maybe this link will get you all the way there: http://rickshotrodshop.com/construct.htm

By the way, it is really slow around here when you are on line at 3 am. Talk to later.

Welcome to the site Peter, you might also check out our "Fueling & Injection" forum for specific details on pumps and fittings.

I simply purchased a brand new factory 1969 tank and had it custom sumped with the fuel line fittings welded in place. I plan on running an external pump system, but have not spec'd out the parts yet.

Thanks, I thought about the original tank to, but I have exhaust running where the original tank is, so I need custom size.
I think I will use some perforeerd sheet metal as baffles
just a few.
How about original fuel pump dimensions? I know look in the fuel threat but asking is easier.
thanks

Peter, I don't have the exact measurements of the '00 camaro tank with me but I was going try and make an area approximately 36wX13hX24d for it. My '55 tank was only 8" tall so I was going to raise the trunk pan about 5 inches in that area. The fill tube is on the rear drivers side of the '00 tank. I believe this one on ebay is just like it: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2445993594

Now I remamber why I didn't look to that option anymore. I want to keep the center fill.
Yet another thing, Do the newer LS1 cars have a internal pump with internal regulator?
I would like to run only one fuel line to the front, so I have to take the earlier pump and rugulator?(what years)
I will probally go with a custom made tank.
thanks

Peter, Another reason I decided not to modify my trunk pan was I was afraid I would weaken the rear of the car too much.
If you need better measurements of the '00 camaro tank, let me know and I will get them tonight. Steve

There is a filter/regulator combo unit that folks are using that can be mounted close to tank that allows you to run the return a short distance back to the tank but you will need the correct fuel rail. Check out some of the old threads. Here is one: https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...ght=fuel+combo
