Default what is a LY6

What exactly is a LY6 ?

What years did they start making them and what did they put them in? What heads, Rect. port or normal LS1 port? Any block or head casting numbers?

I just want to confirm orclearify my understanding of this motor.

Thanks,
Jim

The Heads Are l92 Ls3 style heads. To my knowledge this engine was intended to be a Marine crate engine for boats.

These complete look pretty pricey.

Hope this Helps.. I looked all this up just now. 5 minutes ago I knew nothing about this.

The ly6 is found in the newest silverado and larger vans....and also in my brother's 1994 firebird.

We've got ours up and running correctly. Still working on the tach and speedo, but aside from that, it's 100%.

If anybody is interested in this swap, shoot me a PM and I can answer your questions.

It's what I'm still trying to find for my racetruck. They're a little pricier than an LQ4/LQ9, but you get L92 heads/induction.

so are these full floating wrist pin? Is it pretty much the same bottom end as lq9 with different pistons? I have seen that they have a valve relief cut into the piston.

Are the cranks on these engines the same as the ones that are in the LQ4 LQ9? Seems like I have read somewhere also that the rods are the same in after 2004 is that correct?

I just finished putting one into my 73 camaro. I did a cam swap along with corvette intake. Getting it dynoed and tuned next weekend. Pulls like a beast! I'll post numbers after. I bought a complete crate motor for $2500.
