Coolant Temp Sending Unit for Gen I SBC Car
I have an LS in my C3 (82) Corvette. The coolant gauge reads way higher than it actually is. Is there an adapter for the sending unit that lets you put a Gen I sending unit in the Gen III, or some other solution?

You can install a temp sensor in the passenger side head at rear outbd side of the head, There is a plug there to the water jacket. Some people drill that plug and install the sensor or equis makes a metric adapter kit that fits most sending units that will screw into the head. Leave the factory unit for the pcm. I seem to remember there is a solution using the factory unit but I do not recall what it is. good luck

The factory one may be a large dia one (3/8" NPT?). if it is, it would be to big to use a adapter for the Passenger side head or even drilling and tapping, would be very close to the Exh Manifold.
You can do what G-Body did, turn it down and rethread it to metric 12mm (?)
I might also fit in the Water pump flat spot or a Tee in the Rad hose.
Each of the location will give you a differnent Temp reading. Just have to remember that.
