I know how you feel. I have a 37 GMC I'm dying to get starting on but I know I need to finish the 52 first. I've had more than one project going at once and neither seem to get completed.

I purchased a 25' roll of 3/8 and 5/16 coated steel tubing from O'reilly's Auto Parts. The part number for the 3/8" tubing is PAC625. I purchased AN sleeves and nuts at the local hydraulic supply. I purchased the fuel rail and fuel line adapters from O'reilly's. I found they can order pretty much anything that Summit or Jeg's offers without shipping and can have it to the store within a few days. The local hydraulic supply made up my Parker Puch-Loc hose and AN fittings.

I got the lq4 fired up this weekend and it sounds good! It has took three years getting to this point but it was worth it. I'm very pleased with the PSI stand alone harness and the tune that Steve Williams (Tuned by Frost) did on my ECU. I will upload a short sound clip in a few days. Now it is time to finish the cab, steering, wiring, etc. so I can drive it around. Getting the engine started is a big motivator to finish this project and move on to the 37 GMC.

I went surfing the internet today and ran across your build. I gotta say nice work. Any updated pictures? My son in law and I are working on his 52 Chevy too. Got a long way to go. We're also doing the Heidt front end with the 4 bar for the rear. Please update yours.

Thanks. I don't have any updates at this time. I have been busy with work and riding and racing motorcycles on the weekends. I hope to be back in the garage in a few months and started back on the hot hot rod.

I finished all of the fabrication on the frame and cab. I have not touched it since 2012. I purchased a one owner 71 Camaro SS and that has been my focus over the past year. We built a new house and shop during 2013. I'm thinking about selling the 52 lq4 project as it sits. I've lost interest for now.

I did not purchase new wheel wells for the 52. The originals were solid with no rust. I have not got that far along with the project.

Default Gas Tank

Do you have any pics on the gas tank install or whose tank you used? I am at that point with my 47 LQ4 swap.

I used a Buick Grand National gas tank and a Walbro in the tank pump. I will post some pics tomorrow.

Great thread,

I too, am doing a LQ4 swap into a 1961 Apache, I would like to run a LSA supercharger on it but am having a hard time finding tech help.
I love your build and ideas!

Looks great!

Do you have part numbers of stuff to put an lt1 t56 to long crank lq4? Love the project , I hope you find some new interest in it.

No part numbers, just purchased a LS1 T56 input shaft and mid plate. Simple conversion. I removed the lq4 and T56 from the truck and put it in my 71 Camaro SS.
