Thanks for the intake opinion, i thought it was a great bang for buck until i read a post where an engine builder said he will NOT install these due to gasket issues as well as others; you're the first with good news and if i dont buy L92 heads for my Lq9 im definitely buying a pro products intake.

Some progress updates on my this car...

Car now has a Dana from a C4 Vette out back:

Here is the engine before the most recent set of engine bay mods. Turbo is now redone in black coating, all the silicone couplers are blac, the air filter is moved out of the bay, and the 90* reducer you see on the throttle body has been replaced with a V-band setup. You can see this in the pictures further down.

New front bracing/tube work for the radiator/intercooler:

Push lock fittings for the vacuum system:

Cooling system in:

And reassembly so far:

I don't have pics handy on my server right now, but it's also been swapped to a 2004r w/ an FTI 3600 stall converter, and now has a Magnafuel 4303 out back, 83 lbs injectors and is going to be running on corn.

My big question is how long do you expect that dana 36 to last?? Plus what gears are you running?

I would think that the t2 diff would be stronger than the Dana.

I disagree, i don't no much about the t2 diffs, but the dana36 takes a good beating in a much heavier c4 and seems to last pretty well untill you add DR's and high rpm launches. I've read about c4's in the 9's with dana 44's but not many.

My curiosity is how well it ran with the stock gearing and the t56, and what size tires. I have a dana 44[3.07] in my hot rod, and its as light or lighter than an rx7. all i know is 1500rpm in 6th with my 28" tall tires is illegal in most states! 110mph at 2k iirc.

Misred went mid/low 9s with the same rear in his Buick GN powered FC RX7.

I have 3.07 gears currently.

No, it's not. The TII generally gives out around 500 RWHP in the FC RX7 chassis, the Dana has yet to be broken in mid 9 second cars. It's not unbreakable though, certainly.

If I break this, I'll be putting a 4 link and a solid rear in.

The T56 with 4.10s (stock gearing) sucks, especially when you're trying to spool a turbo, get out of the hole and keep everything in powerband.

did misred have 3.07's as well?

Did you drive it with the 3.07's? do you like it and will you be keeping them.

Im in the same weight range as an an FC, probably lighter, so im much more confident in my dana 44 handling the abuse. Also fee much better with keeping the stock gears in it. When i bought it, the guy didn't know the difference between dana 36 and 44[i didn't either], and i got it for $275.

Very nice. How hard was the C4 rear end to convert?

I'm not sure what gears he had. I've not driven these with the automatic yet (had a T56 in it last year). I have a hunch I may be switching to a 3.23 range in the near future.

Not difficult at all. I cut the "batwing" down and build reinforcing plates, then had a local guy who is excellent on the TIG weld it up. Then I made brackets to hold it to the chassis and subframe.

The hard part is getting at custom stub shafts to make it fit. Misred made a run of them available a while back, at this point they would have to be custom made I'd think.

Sorry, just saw this. The 2004r is fully built, I expect it to last quite a while.

Quick pull against a bolt on C6 on the highway. The bike that is hanging with me is a bolt on 636, and the one that comes up at the end is a GSXR1000; they both pass me when I let off at the end of the video:

Those 200s like to cavitate. They can be tough if the right guts are in em. Great build, I am impressed.

So I sold the turbo setup out of this car to another V8 RX7 guy and started on a new one about a week ago.

Old setup was a Turbonetics TC76, 3" downpipe, based on truck/F-Body manifolds, with a single 48mm Turbosmart gate. New setup is a Precision 76GTS billet w/ a 3.5" downpipe that has a fender dump on a cutout, based on C6 manifolds, with 2x 38mm Tial gates.

The new kit is fabricated, just needs final welded. Here's a couple shots:

Kit is all tacked up, will get TIG'd shortly:

Fender dump. Will get trimmed once I put my bumper on.

Torn down for final welding:

Looks good, i've been waiting to see update pics.

I've been looking for someone that converted the dana get rid of the half shafts i read through this thread when you posted the pic of the rear, but didn't remeber where i saw the pic. Was it some sort of kit? does it convert directly to the rx7 hubs? Any info would be cool.

A guy a few years back (Misred) had the stock stub shafts from the Dana machined down, a custom flange machined and welded to it, then the whole assembly heat treated. There were a few sets made, and one of them is on this car. Basically the stock RX7 half shafts bolt right to the stub shafts in the Dana.

It's VHT. I spray on 3-4 thick coats about 8 minutes apart, let it "rest" for about 15 minutes, then bake it in an oven for ~30 minutes at 225*.

I can get a similar effect with a heat gun, but it's more touchy to get consistent, vs. the oven.

Thanks for the compliments guys.
