Default 6 wire or 9 wire DBW? Help!

I'm working on finishing my 5.3 swap in my 79 Cherokee but I am running into trouble with the DBW setup. Sometimes the pedal works, usually it doesnt. TAC is new, and tried 3 different pedals.

Motor, harness and ECM is 2005. Pedal and pedal harness are from a yard, not sure what year. The harness between the pedal and the TAC have 6 wires. But, every diagram I see for 2005 says I should have 9 wires? Are all three pedal sensors used in 05?

Also, my alternator is not currently charging for some reason. Is there anything in the ECM that turns off the pedal when there is no charge from the alt?

Thanks for the help!

Wow! Lots of good info there.

My TAC harness has the 10 pin pre 2006 connectors on both ends, but only has 6 wires. I'm thinking I definelty need to add the other 3. Concensous from the group?

I ahve read in other threads that if your Alt isnt charging your DBW will stop working as a fail safe.

Hi, just so I'm understanding this right, Pedals for trucks from 99-05 are all the same as well as the tac modules?

If the pedals are the same so are the tac modules. Everything, including the tune, must match.
