i believe what u need is a flexplate spacer or another flexplate. where did you get the flexplate when you took the manual tranny out?

You need the flat flex plate an the earlier style converter. As the Gen III converter has a nub near the crank that will hit the longer crank.

if the crank does have the extended rear, and not a spacer, you would need a flat flywheel, and prob have a converter made with a shorter snout to work-the 4l60e converters had a longer snout in a pass car, not sure exactly what they did in a truck that orig had a longer crank, maybe a diff converter?

The trucks with the longer crank had the 4l80 in them it had the correct converter. Yes the 4.8l was used with the 4l80 in the Vans. Also the longer crank was used with the NV3500 and NV4500 manual trans as well.

Any flat 6.0l flex plate will work and you won't need the spacer as well.

You will need the earlier 4l60e converter (1997-1999) Gen I or a 4.3L converter.
