6.0 lq4 .. the link you posted , that set up would work if i was using the factory wp and tensioners ... my motors only going to have a alternator hanging off it .

I used the lower hole that was already in the block. Used a fbody alt mount/alt, actually used the mount as a template, marked my hole just like the picture in that link. I drilled and tapped it in the car even....... Make sure you use that little bracket that mounts to the back of the alt and to the block, just under the head, and your good to go.......... If all your running is an alt, check this link out......

Scroll down and look at their alt mount. This is what I was originally gonna do, but decided to keep the stock water pump. Look at the pic on the left (in the link), your block has that hole already. The one up on by the head is the one you have to drill/tap on yours. The other one closest to the "front cover" is the one you dont use..... as long as you use that little bracket on the back side of the alt.

Hope this helps you out............

can you use the small bracket off the back on the lq4 alternator though? i got the 145 amp alt for the truck, but i didn't think there was a provision for the extra little bracket on the back.

I used the stock alt/alt bracket off of a fbody. I dont have a truck alt laying here to look at. The hole for the little back bracket is part of the alt housing. Here is a link to the bracket so you can see what Im talking about......

yeah, i have the bracket, but i am pretty sure i couldn't find a place to bolt i tto on the back of the truck alt. maybe i should have gone with the f-body alt, but i wanted the extra output. of course now i hear that peopel have had issues with the steering link using the truck alt, so i may be forced to rethink that one.
