Default Couple of errors and no tach

My Autometer Sport Comp tach is not working. It's reading 0

I'm using an 05 truck ECM and I'm getting the following codes
PCM] P0650 - Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) Control Circuit
[PCM] P0654 - Engine RPM Output Circuit Malfunction (Pending)

I got te P0650 cleared up, but still no tach function.

this will get you going...tach should be set on 4 cylinder to read correct, unless programming was done in the PCM to change that.

, I know this has been covered many times...

yeah, I've seen that, but nobody mentioned the error code

If my stock tach is an 8 cylinder setup can I half the resistence (340ohm) and get the correct output on my tach or am I hoping too much that something like that would work?

No

you need to change the tach output in the tune

Dakota Digital makes a small tach interface box that will change the signal, if you don't want to have it changed with a tune.

SGI-8 is what you need. It's pretty simple to hook up, works well and the instructions are excellent. Did I mention the whole thing is slightly larger than a cell phone?
