Default New 67 Nova project

Tomorrow I'm picking up 67 NOVA SS 2door HT. It has a LS1 4L60E swapped in and it looks a little crude.

I have L92 on the engine stand. I'm going with a 600 TKO.

I have done a few LS swaps but with autos. The L92 will have a Texas Speed cam. No VVT. About 540 crank shaft HP.

Hope to have it ready for the Power Tour.

Roger K call me when you get time!

Look forward to eveyone's help.

Default 67 Nova project

I picked up the Nova and it is the poster boy for a LS1 swap poorly done.

1. Hacked together harness.
2. No bypass regulator for the fuel pump.
3. O2 sensors not hooked up.

The 2000 LS1 is supposed to have 7000 mile on it. It's coming out this week.
Both the engine and the 4L60E are very clean so the miles may correct.

I will post some pics of the engine compartment.

Should be fun.

Default 67 Nova pics

It's a little nasty wiring wise. I put a battery in and the fuel pump just tried to keep running. A couple of wires got real hot. I just going to pull it and do a compression test.

Anyone seen a rack conversion like this. Brand perhaps?

Jeez, no wonder the sold it. Made such a mess out of things they couldn't get back to square one and figure it out I bet. It honestly looks like a kid threw a bunch of colored yarn at your motor.

Wow. I'm almost tempted to ask if that's real or staged.

Great idea pulling it out and starting over essentially, hopefully the rest of the car is solid to compensate for the engine work!

More pics!!!

speaking of, what are you going to do with the LS1 when you put the LQ in it's place?

Default 67 Nova

The photo was not staged. That's the way I bought it.

It get's better.

Solid front motor mounts.
Solid 1/8" tubular trans cross member. One bolt one either side to hold it in.

Right side exhaust manifold up against the shock tower.
The ends of the manifolds cut off and exhaust tubing welded to it to the exhaust pipes.

The worst thing is the previous owner paid someone to do the work!

I've got the front sheet metal and sub frame pulled off. Heidt Super ride front sub and rear 4 link on the way.

The car is very nice other wise. No rust underneath. A little bit of mud at the bottom of the rear quarters. Average paint. Trim tag indicates a real SS car. Red with black interior. Auto.

I'm going to trendy once in my life and paint it just for this summer satin black. Next fall and winter I will blow it apart, strip all the paint and paint it properly.

I do have the LS1/4L60E out. Cranking it by hand it has good compression. I have the receipt when the previous owner bought it. 15,000 miles. It looks clean enough to be low mileage. With the harness such as it is, computer, engine /trans, drive shaft, alum radiator, front acessories less the power steering and alternator. I'm thinking about $2750? Any one interested PM me.

The stock front subframe is very nice. It has disc brake kit on it. The aftermarket steering rack was installed but never driven. All for sale at very good prices. PM me if interested.

Yeah, that's his story and he's sticking to it! I wouldn't want to take credit (or would that be blamed for) that either.

Sounds like a good car though, good luck with it, I'll look for it on HRPT.

It's like a box of chocolate you never know what you are going to find!

The interior came out tonight. No suprises for once. Fenders and hood went to the body guy today for the satin black paint.

I don't think the previous owner did the work. He seemed like nice guy but by no means a hot rodder and had no clue how to put LS1 in a Nova.
