I had never heard of one before, but looked it up and found tons of info, and saw it was a nice motor. Well i got a 2006 LQ9 motor with pcm, all the accessories, wiring harness, and other goodies sitting in my garage on blocks right now. Motor has 45k on it and came with MSD super conductor wires.

Should i get a gauge cluster from a Silvarado SS or something with all the computer controlled crap on it so my new harness plugs right in?
I will also need a pedal with a TPS sensor from a truck. Can i use any GM tps sensor pedal? or will i need to use one specifically for the lq9?

And this is a shot in the dark, but can i reuse my driveshaft, like will it go into the GM transmission? Or will i have to get this all new.

I bought this F150 a month ago with 120k miles on it, rust free, in great shape. for 750 bucks.

I plan on swapping in the lq9 once i get a transmission, probably going with a 4l60e until i can find and afford a good 4L65e.

So besides the wiring harness nightmare, what else can i expect to hit with my swap? What else do i need to make the thing run? What stays and what goes? I havent seen another F150 swap on this forum, tried searching with a few different keywords. I will be gathering all the parts and then doing the project to keep as little down time as possible on the truck. Currently have an 3.08 rear end, but will be doing a 3.73 swap in the future with a new LSD.

Look forward to doing this, my first engine swap. I have a buddy with a shop with a lift, all the tools i could ever need, and he knows his way around engines and what not pretty good, he used to build chevy 350's in older trucks.

Heres my engine.

Its all going into

That F150 is going to be a beast !!!!

I just picked up a 6.0L engine last week. I was wondering were the block casting numbers are, to verifly the year and such. It has dished pistons. The engine is missing the front cover, intake, oil pan and front dress.

I don't have my front address, or water pump. I went out and looked at the block, couldn't find any letter or numbers. Is it on the front cover?

I will take a picture in a bit and show ya. If you are facing the water pump(or where it should be) on the left top is where it would be.

The only number that I can read is the number 2 in the last digit, thanks to the rust it is mostly gone. So it must be a 2002 block.

Thanks

Ok i need to know exactly whats needed for this thing to run properly. The only wires i need going inside the cab are the guages and to the key correct? Looks like this thing had 100 wires running into the fire wall from the chevy ss it was on. What do i need for the engine to run properly, and what can i get rid of?

I also need a wiring diagram

I have really thought about doing mine too. I bought a 1988 F150 with the straight 6 300 and a 5 speed. I paid $500 for it too.

I think I am gonna do a 5.3 with a 5 speed in it
