You ran that engine just long enough not to do any damage. Thanks for the video.

I hope you plan on doing more then the LS1 intake, z06 cam, and headers if you are looking to get 400hp. Doing that cam is basically a wash for hp wise with that intake...

congrats on the fire, and it looks like you have a more than willing canidate for the swap!!

about the hp, I too am in the process of doing an lm7 swapped car. I am hoping to get around (more likely a little under) 400whp.
I have a torqV2 cam, worked heads, long tubes, ls6 intake, and a t56. With the zo6 cam, and full exhaust, I'm bench racing you at around 320whp. GL either way man!

Here is an article that I found that is encouraging on the potential of the 5.3

No sir, you are way to generous for the power he will be making. The stock LM7 puts down 220whp on mustang dyno and about 250-260whp on a dynojet.
I have a lm7, z06 cam, ls1 intake and straight pipe on my e30 bmw swap. I put down 256/260 on a dynojet n/a, and 373/430 on a 100shot.

The stock truck intake flows just as good as the ls6 intake. If you put on the ls1 like i did, cause it was dirt *** cheap and needed it to fit under my hood, plus i was spraying anyways and didnt care... You'll be losing some power, and the cam will pick it up basically being a wash on hp gains.

You'll need FI, spray, or a monster cam to make near 400whp with the 5.3.

might be a dumb question, but what do you do about running coolant? i love the idea of being able to start the motor before putting it in the car but i'd hate to nuke a motor that was just put back together

You can run a cold engine for a few seconds without a cooling system with no issues. After a minute or two itll start getting hotspots and detonation

Nice! I have a weakspot for a 77-78 TA. the Blue is beautiful.

I put a lm7 in a 62 bel air a while back, it made 267RWHP through the 4l60 and 20in wheels. It has a similar setup to yours, ls1 intake and a 218/228 .550 112 cam. I found out recently that I needed to go with 7.45 pushrods because of the regrind cam( I failed to use my pushrod length checker, too much going on) so it may make a little more power. Hasnt hurt anything but i'm losing lift and geometry. If your looking for 400 crank HP its doable, but prob not on a small cam. Just throw some hose at it...!
