Default carbd LQ4
im swapping out a 04 LQ4 that was boosted for 15K. Im going with L92 heads. im replacing all the gaskets and seals of the top end of the motor. should i upgrade any other parts like the rod bolts?
LQ4/L92 Heads/Hot cam kit

mill the heads, ls2 head gaskets. rod bolts only neccessary if plan on constant 65-7000rpm or heavy racing. if street car, not needed.

This is the build im doing. Should be 550hp at the crank with the cam and heads they used. Just L92's and a camp swap.

that build sounds INCREDIBLE!! and incredibly easy! so if that thing makes 550hp roughly at the motor, is it safe to assume that you'd end up with 468hp at the rear wheels? i'm amazed at how much power these motors will make with factory parts! i'm sold.

roughly about 440rw thru built drivetrain, trans, stall, and reinforced drag type rear end.
with manual car and basic or upgraded rear around 460-465rw

Rod bolts are a cheap $70 insurance policy. I'd put them in any motor you have on an engine stand.

i'm doing the same thing....i'm gathering parts now,and was thinking about that build too but just a bit worried about low end driveability...a few people on here said it wouldnt have good driveability. i wanna here from all those cam guru's out there!!!

sure beats stroking a 351, having to get the block machined, and HOPEFULLY ending up even close to those numbers!!!!

i dont know what id expect. its going in a 83 3/4 2dr truck, factory SM465 and 14 bolt. i want to get over 400rwhp but im not sure if i can get there.

Damn. If I wasn't so worried about losing low end torque, I'd try to pick up a set of L92 heads. Those hp numbers are awesome.

while this is true, not many people own a rod bolt stretch guide. and i for one will not install rod bolts in any motor without the correct values or without use of this tool.

If you get arp bolts they have instructions for installing them with a torque wrench. I just recently did this on my 6.0.
