Default C3 corvette LS1 engine swap

I am going to put a LS1 engine in my 74 corvette is there a certain year and donor vehicle type I should try and go after for accessory hook up and such?

i have a 2000 TransAm that i have my eye on with fairly low miles for the donor vehicle.

I think the problem is that there are several ways to do the conversion and A LOT of the old vettes already have mods done, ie rack/pinion steering.
You really need to define the trans you'll use, accessories you'll be using, current mods, gauges, etc... So answeing about accessories without knowing what he'll need is tough. Vettes have a lot more accessory clearance problems than most cars too.
And there's a sticky on corvette forum with almost every imaginable combo and contact info for people who have done that conversion.
As for years...I think the 98 f bodies required a fuel return from the rail, all the 99-02s were pretty much the same. If you go to later GTO or vette motors, there's the addition of DBW...dont know of any vette specific issues.

I understand,But this is a LS1 forum.so they should try to put the sticky on this forum also.This forum is very informative and should help everyone.I go back and forth between the two.

PM a mod here then

Most people dont read the stickys anyhow until they are specifically directed to them

I think the 98 f bodies required a fuel return from the rail, all the 99-02s were pretty much the same.
98-02 Fbodys were all returnless as well as 99+ Corvette. Only 97-98 C5's were return style
