I just received a truck harness that the seller said came from a van that had Drive by cable, '04 I think, and it has blue/green pcm connectors.

Do I need to use a '04 pcm? Does it matter if it comes from a 5.3 or 6.0? I can pick them up from local yards for $45 for 5.3 and $60 for 6.0. Or can I get an earlier pcm? I assume that would be just more work, right?

LOTS of questions to come, as I want to give myself a chance to rework the wiring harness with help from this forum, and lt1swap.com.

If you used an earlier pcm say a red blue connector one you'd have to modify the harness cause the pinouts are different. You can use a 5.3 or 4.8 pcm as long as it's drive by cable but you'd have to have it flashed for your tune.

I would re-pin it to make sure everything lines up on whatever PCM you plan on using.

usually truck motors have blue green pcm connectors but all main engine controls share the same pins as the blue red pcms
