not much progress made , but i did manage to connect the alternator and now its charging but right now i have an issue with the alternator light ( charging light ) not going off in the dash : i know the porsche uses two wires tothe alternator : one is the charge indicator and the other is the signal , i tried connecting them and i still get the light in the dash ,,,, marky i need your brains

another thing i'm messing with is the oil pressure guage in the dash; i can't get it to work from the schematics i have the sensor has two wires going to it : one is the pressure signal and the other is the pressure switch ( low pressure warning light) and the sensor is self grounding. why is not working ?

another thing that got me confused is the driver side window , the window rolls up and down ok but i can't get it go down all the way , it always leaves about an inch of glass showing when you roll it all the way down ( as opposed tot he othe side where the window goes down all the way ) . when you roll the window down all the way it hits a stop at the end of the rail, i know there is an adjuster screw on there but that screw is only for adjusting how far up the window goes. any insight would be helpfull

other than that , nothing much going on , i'm going to remove the powersteering hard lines when i get the car on a lift again and solder on some propper JIC or AN fittings on there instead of the leaking ones i got there now. that should put an end to the power steering delima

also on the to do list is the front main seal , which is still leaking ,,,, because i still didn't fix it

In regards to the oil pressure/alarm, maybe there's teflon or thread sealer on the nipple keeping it from getting sufficient ground?

i thought about it , but there isn't any as far as i could recall. either way i'll be grounding the sensor tot he frame with a wire as soon as i get back into town .

and since i was on a road trip all by myself , i had alot of time to think and reflect on the project the only thing stopping me from driving the car around is the leaking front main and the power steering line , if i finish those i can drive the car and monitor how well the cooling system works and what not .

so the plan now is :
- fix the main seal
- fix the power steering hose

then worry about the other stuff

on a side note ,after reading a thread about it in the FI section , i ordered a set of stainless turbo headers for a ford 5.0 (cost a whopping $120 ) that i will be modifying to fit on this thing - talk about focusing on the current issues

Ok, the only way that the Charge indicator is on is if the blue wire from pin B5 on the cluster is grounded. This should be your activation wire to the alternator, it should be hot when running and ground when off.

another thing i'm messing with is the oil pressure guage in the dash; i can't get it to work from the schematics i have the sensor has two wires going to it : one is the pressure signal and the other is the pressure switch ( low pressure warning light) and the sensor is self grounding. why is not working ?
Oil pressure system is wired like this.

Pin A1 of oil pressure sensor is connected to Green/Red wire which leads to Pin B5 of instrument cluster- This is pressure

Pin A2 of oil Pressure sensor is connected to Green/White wire which leads to pin A13 of instrument Cluster-This is Low pressue signal. Sensor should be large and round. I can verify PN if you would like...

Im in a hurry, but ill hit the other points later, the window is easy, remove the lower plastic stop. I believe i posted it earlier in the thread but the boxster and 911 use the same regulator, but when you put it in a 911 you remove that T20 screw and plastic stop...

finish the camaro???? is that even physically possible?

here is the link to the thread :
https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversio...o-headers.html

thanks for the input marky , the sensor is the correct one and i think i have it connected correctly ( as per the wiring diagram ) , but i'll check as per your notes ( i think there is a possibility that i have the wires crossed)

as for the charge indicator wire if i understand what you said i have to connect the blue wire to the positive post on the alternator ?

as for the regulator , if i remove the plastic stops ( torx screw ) this will only allow it to go up more but not down . there seems to be a stop on the rail itself, i'll try to see if i can get a pic for you .

oh and i have to talk to you about the brake light wiring and what not

Yes, but for a maximum of 3 weeks time. You assignment, should you choose to accept it, will be to stretch that time to 4 weeks minimum.

here is the pic of the window track ( sorry for the fuzzy image ):

Name: 100_2752.jpg
Views: 351
Size: 84.6 KB

, the aluminum bracket holding the window goes down the track untill it hits the stop at the bottom ( i think its held by the silver rivet or bolt on the track just under the golden allen screw ). i'm not sure if this is the reason its not going down but i'll have to check .

Remove that torx screw facing us, on the frame. that plastic piece on the other side will fall out and youll be golden! I wish they were all that easy.

The blue wire should be going to the terminal that most people run the resistor on, the Field terminal, the B+ terminal will always be hot, but the field terminal will be B+ when the car is running and ground when the car is off.

Very neat project but IMO it's a little piontless. A 996tt (turbo, not N/A) is very reliable and with a flash, they are already over 420awhp. Plus with 996tt prics in the gutter, it may have been cheaper to stay tt h6.

Cool project nontheless.

Did you figure out the window issue? Did you try relearning the position of the windows by raising the window to the top. Press the raise button again and hold it for a second.
