Looks like the tranny made it home without a seat belt ticket lol. Nice car by the way, I would love to have monte carlo ss one day, but the second gen project will have to do for now.

I just looked around for some nice retro gauges and came to this:

If I'll get this I'll get a KPH instead MPH speedo custom made by classicinstruments.

and well, I found some classic hot rodding looking rims - Eagle Alloy 225. They come in 18x8 (fronts) and 18x10 (rear).

now finally back working on the monte carlo again. last week I received the frame back and started painting with POR15. I'll coat it with few coats of POR15 "Rust Preventive Paint" and finish it with POR15 "Chassis Coat Black".

frame's underside painted with POR15 rust preventive

yesterday I sprayed the inside of the frame with some rust protector. its a kind of grease / spray lubricate that keeps away rust and water. I put the rear back together just to see if all parts fit. I'll replace the stock rear end with a 8.5" grand national or better with a ford 9".

SPC front arms and Howe tall lower balljoints

still looking to get some nice wheels again

can't wait to get this in the frame

my barn

and maybe next week I'll get the LS1 engine

thanks man!

now looks like I ran into a problem with boxing my frame - the BRP T56 crossmember looks like it doesn't fit anymore because I closed the c-chanel of the frame. I looked at the instructions because I still don't have the LS1 in hands to check fitment with just the engine and transmission. instruction says I have to drill new holes to get the crossmember fit. so looks like the passenger side goes onto here something like that:

is that right?

ok so the other side SHOULD go in the c-chanel right?

The project is coming along very well! The transmission crossmember looks like it's for the later model (84 and up) G body. It's not a big deal though. You can just weld a tab to the from for mounting purposes. Good Luck.

Kev I had the same problem with the crossmember. You're supposed to lay it in and drill a new set of holes. I ended up going with an Iceman crossmember for my 4l60e build. Used the same mounts as you and the trans crossmember was perfect.

What's your plan with headers?

thx guys! still don't know about headers. maybe I'll get some cheap camaro headers or even stockers..

still have to wait for some more parts to arrive so today I got all the interior & wiring out and test fitted the 59 bel air dash. still need a few more cuts & welds but you got the idea
