I got the ls2 plates from street and performance and its bolts right up, but the problem i'm having is the motor mounts have a imprint on the back and dont sit flush on the plate. The engry suspension motor mounts has an even bigger imprint than the factory imprint has on the back has anyone had this problem? what did yall do

Thats What i figured but with my luck Murphys law will kick in. I got both mount types the rubber and polyurethane, which the rubber mounts was only 10.00 for both vs 60.00 for both polyurethane one. the rubber one fit better so i hope there is something super speical about the polyurethane one that I plan to use

OR get Moroso's solid frame mount (part # 62630) and engine mount (part # 62515). I used them for my LS into Monte install.

Default Washers?

I haven't done my swap yet and have read of this problem before. Could "flat washers" be put in between the mount and the adapter plate to take up space instead of grinding away the metal? ........just curious before I get started.

Naw flat washers wont do it depending on which bracket kit you get, I'm just going to grind the back on my energy suspension mounts down since i paid for them. but I think you can get away with the oem stock mounts with lil or no mods.

Default Ls2 Motor Mount Swap

Go to Summit Racing website and order P/N (PTP-7-504-BL) these M/M are Black Urethane about $60.00 for both, and they are flat on the back side. These are are the ones I will be using on my 80 Vette LS2 Swap.

I used the energy suspension mounts grinded the back down flat, and i had to grind some of the frame mounts and everything worked, so I'll say the factory motor mounts are direct fit and the after markets that i used need some fab work

Cutting a slot in the adapter plate to clear the "bulge" in the OE and polyurethane mounts would be the better route to take.

Hotswap, do a little more research to get the correct engine plates before hacking on a set of quality, expensive mounts. The Energy Susp. mounts are designed with a 'Preload Plate' that must be used with their mounts, this preload plate has the "imprint' as Lavish called it and that's what he ground off. The E.S. mounts require a special engine plate with a relief slot cut into it to accommodate the "imprint". Just because someone else used a grinder to make it fit, doesn't make it the right way. JMO

itslow has the right idea!!

BTW, I used the E.S. mounts with the proper plates to drop the LSx in my '32 Ford.

yeah the plate the i grinded down went well because it didnt affect the inside of the e.s plate. Its flush on the side i grinded and still has the imprint on the other side, its not many choices with the motor mounts with out doing a lot cutting and welding.

When I made my plates.. I ran into the same problem with the ES mount, I then cut a matching slot into my plates to allow the ES mount to sit flush.. if you look at some of the other plates being marketed.. some will have the slot other are just a flat metal adapter plate.
