Default LS2 wiring and cooling question

I was hoping someone could answer my questions.

1. I was wondering if the small fitting on top of the head that has a hose which crosses from side to side could be removed and plugged like the two in teh back near the firewall. These are the fittings that are at the front of the motor and seem to connect the cylinder heads, probably to prevent a hot spot or to help with air pockets.

2. I am installing an LS2 from a 2006 GTO in my Chevelle. There is a white square plug in the harness near the computer connection, it has 13 wires going into it and I have no idea where it goes. I am running the factory harness and have everything accounted for except that. I think it may be for the factory gauge cluster but I am not sure. The plug is about 1in. and 1 1/2 in.

Thanks

1. Some guys block it off with no problem, I ran mine just to be safe. It is a steam bypass to do exactly what you said. GM thought they needed it, so why change it...just my opinion though...

2. The white connector goes to the body harness for gauges and other functions...

Tom thanks for the information. So I can leave the coolant line. As for the white connector should I just leave it under the dash unhooked?

You will need to use some wires from that connector...see the link below for Pockets write up on what to do with some of them...

I wrote an abridged version thats a bit more general than the first one. Same content though, with a few extra common problems

http://www.thirdgen.org/techboard/lt...revisited.html

It seems like the OP isnt reworking the harness, but using as much factory stuff as possible. Nothing wrong with that, it just makes the links above not so useful. He'd need the GTO connector pinout, unless he plans to trace each wire against every PCM pin

Im not sure where to look for that as GTO stuff isnt as common as Fbody or trucks. Got an AllData subscription?
