Do I need VSS with TH400? I have a 78 Chevy K30 crewcab with a 5.3 fuel injected engine in it. It is drive by cable and has a TH400 and a NP203 transfer case. When I modified the wiring harness for a stand-alone engine, I removed all the transmission wiring since I was using a non-computer tranny. My speedometer is cable operated and I don't have any working cruise control (I don't know how to set it up, anyway). The truck is currently running. I recently read that i need to have a VSS for the engine to run properly (get good fuel mileage and power). Is this true? If so, how do I go about hooking up a VSS on the Th400/NP203 and what do I need to do to get the computer set back up for it? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
It helps to prevent stalling when stopped and gives small improvements all around. Some think it can be tuned around, but why bother
Use an inline cable to electric adapter. JTR is the most common and has the best info about it, but multiple companies sell cheaper units
