Default Electric fan setup

Checking out electric fans for my swap and i noticed alot of people swapping the whole fan setup from an older ls vehicle. Are they all about the same, anyone know good years and models that flow the highest cfm?

Also, some ebay fans claimed to flow 3k cfm with a 14" fan. this seems high, anyone had experience with these?

Nice info thanks! did you keep the fan setup for the ls2?

is there a way to tell what the fan should truly pull in cfm? I have heard that some of them are rated differently to boost numbers

I was going to use aftermarket fans but for budget purposes decided to use the factory Thunderbird fan in my car. Even after long periods of time at idle the engine never gets past 200 - 205* (according to my scan tool) and quickly falls to 190 - 195* (turn on point) once the fan comes on or the car starts when moving. The single fan is a two speed unit with built in shroud and it never stays on more than 10 or 20 seconds at a time when sitting. I'm only using the low speed and high isn't even hooked up for now since I haven't found the need - even last summer. This is with a factory radiator which is within 1" of the same size as a Camaro radiator.

There are LOTS of factory fans sitting in breakers yards just waiting to be plucked by the wise. I even picked up a spare for less than $30 in preparation for the day mine drops off.
