Default single vs dual electric fan

I am trying to decide between a single 16" 2700cfm and duel 11' fans. What are the benefits of the dual. I think I read it might be more quiet. Anything thing else seperate them?

Well you shouldn't have them fighting against each other. make sure if you get two they don't duel...if you get DUAL fans I think that it might be quieter.

I just put a 2 speed single 15" on my truck, you cant hear it over the engine when its running, but my trucks loud, works great though. moves a lot more air than the stock fan did. Got mine at a junkyard for 20 bucks. its from a mercury cougar i think.

yeah the pick n pulls have them all over, just make sure there in good condition before you take the time to pull em out. They usually are. Wiring them in is simple, just get a switch and a relay from radio shak, and your on your way.

the dual fans you can wire to low and high speed, so initial turn on will be low speed, less noise and amperage draw, kick on to high speed if needed.

I would try and find a dual fan shroud from a 98-02 Camaro and use the low and high temp setup. Those should be cheap on the junkyards. And look on this site for the three relay fan control; I used it on my LS1 Chevelle setup and it works great and it is quiet.

Dual fan pull air over more radiator surface then a single one, giving you better cooling, also by wiring them in the corvette maner, they are quiter on low speed and are still pulling air across the whole radiator, rather then using one fan on low and both on high

Everyone has a differing opinion based on their situation, experience or personal preference. I guess I'm saying there isn't a "right" but more like what works well for you.

I'm using the factory 2 speed single fan in my Thunderbird set on low with the factory radiator which is one inch larger side to side than an F-Body radiator. My car (according to the PCM) never gets over 210 sitting or 195 - 197 while moving. The fan rarely comes on and when it does it is only for short bursts (10 sec or less) mainly while sitting or moving slow. Keep in mind factory fans draw a lot of current.

Just my experience, hope it helps.

Hey clm69z28,
Where did you get the relay base/holder for your fan relays? I used the factory underhood fuse blocks on my present setup but may need a base like your's in the future. Thanks
